劇情大綱：

王魁趕考途中結識煙花女焦桂英，進而結為夫妻。桂英支應王魁生活所需、更洗盡鉛華、全心照顧王母。沉浸於愛情的桂英，哪知道付出一切所換來的，竟是王魁高中後另娶相府千金，將她拋棄！桂英千里尋夫，認夫不成反遭毒打重傷。她不願屈服於不公的世界，在曾與王魁盟誓的海神廟中自盡，化作厲鬼、活捉王魁。

On the way to the national exam, Wang-Qui fell in love with Gui-Ying and married her. Gui-Ying worked in a whorehouse to support Wan-Qui and looked after his mom. However, as Wang-Qui won a successful career, he abandoned Gui-Ying and married the daughter of the prime minister. Gui-Ying traveled a long way to find him, but was beaten to near death. She refused to yield to injustice, suicided in the temple where they vowed in front of god, finally turned herself into a chasing devil.
